New Artist Series At TASTE

TASTE and SAM Gallery have teamed up once again to present the new Quarterly Artist Series: Lynn Brofsky / John Dempcy, now in the restaurant from March 17th- June 13th.

For Lynn Brofsky, monotype is a rich extension of her background in painting and she enjoys the openness and inherent flexibility of the medium. “With monotype, I can layer images- varying the painterly quality from hard-edged to fluid, constructing a story with each distinctive layer. With printmaking its you and the press together; there is an element of letting go and allowing the piece to emerge. The press collaborates in both a practical and accidental sense.”

Referencing microbiology and genetics, John Dempcy explores the myriad ways in which form and design unfold in the process of biological life. His paintings are characterized by endless modulation and nuance of shape, color, and pattern which define a network of interrelated elements. Form follows process as his compositions take shape to reveal organic qualities and architecture that reverberate in nature.

For this Artist Series, we asked TASTE Bartenders Tiffany Friday and Duncan Chase to create two different specialty cocktails, celebrating the Artists’ work.
