TASTE’s New Neighborhood Monthly Wine Tasting – March 26th

Clare Barboza

TASTE Restaurant is excited to announce our new wine tasting program! Our inaugural “Last Friday of the Month” Neighborhood Wine Tasting will kick off this Friday, March 26th in our Private Dining Room. We invite you to drop in anytime between 5-6:30pm to experience some of our most beloved Washington and Oregon wines.

For a $10 tasting fee, our guests will receive 2  glasses of wine, detailed information and discussions on the wines tasted, a small savory bite form TASTE Restaurant after each flight as well as a  sweet bite upon leaving the tasting.

In addition to the tasting, guests will also have the  opportunity to purchase Washington and Oregon’s finest small production wine at a special retail price and should guests be interested in joining us for dinner, we would honor the purchase any of the featured wines at the reduced retail purchase price and waive any corkage fee.

March’s Wine Focus:

This month we are featuring  two  very different styles and wine making approaches (old world vs. new world) of Northwest Viognier and Syrah from four  of our favorite local winery producers as well as two very different AVAs. Relax and enjoy as we guide you through these tasty  experiences and always exciting discussions.

Maison Bleue “Notre Vie” Viognier        2008       Yakima                   $23

Bunnell Family Cellars Viognier               2006       Columbia V        $23

Daedalus Cellars Syrah                                  2007       Columbia V        $29

Efeste “Jolie Bouche”  Syrah                       2006       Yakima                 $40

Wine Notes:

Maison Bleue “Notre Vie” Viognier / 2008/ Yakima

Notes of Asian pear and under ripe peach, mineral and stone.  Bone dry, good acid and citrus structure w/ hints of grapefruit ending w/ a nice round texture and hints of yeasty lees.

Bunnell Family Cellars Viognier  / 2006 / Columbia Valley

Notes of tropical fruit, melon, orange blossom, vanilla and hints of ripe banana. This is a fuller, richer more NW style of the two viogniers with more wood present on the palate.

Daedalus Cellars Syrah / 2007/ Columbia Valley

This is a wonderful and exquisite NW syrah that is often categorized as “syrah through a pinot noir glass” Unique and different you will find notes of lavender, mineral, sagebrush, cherry & dried cranberry, dusty dry boysenberry with hints of mocha/milk chocolate, juicy wet fleshy plums and licorice.

Efeste “Jolie Bouche”  Syrah / 2006 / Yakima

One of our personal favorites of Efeste winery – this 100% syrah is “pretty” with notes of black cherry, plum and pomegranate with good amounts of violet for a strong floral experience. Good earthy qualities of granite, hints of sage and mint.
