Olympic Sculpture Park Farmers Market Round Up

We are in full swing with this summer’s Olympic Sculpture Park Famers Market and its been quite a ride so far!

We thought we’d take a moment and recap a few of the exciting things that we’ve been up to over the last 6 weeks.

Pastry Chef Lucy

We kicked off the series with a special cooking demonstration by Pastry Chef Lucy Damkoehler who showed us all how to make her famous Peanut Butter and Jelly Ice Cream Sandwich. It was a gorgeous, sunny evening down on the water and a wonderful way to start off the exciting new market series.

Each week, Pastry Chef Lucy has been creating amazingly delicious seasonal donuts,  including: Skagit River Ranch bacon brown sugar donuts, Peach Fritters tossed in cinnamon sugar, Red Velvet Cake donuts featuring beets from Stoney Plains Organic Farms, Brioche Filled donuts with  lemon – formage blanc mousse, and this week’s featured seasonal donut: Alvarez’s Sweet Corn Cruller with lime glaze. Yum!

When asked what inspires Lucy when creating each week’s donut, she said that is totally driven by the produce. What looks good, and what fits well with the donut she’s excited to create (such as the Bacon Brown Sugar donuts!)

Lucy’s donuts have been such a hit, Julien Perry wrote about the bag ‘o donuts on Seattle Weekly’s Voracious!

Time is running out- Be sure to stop by every Thursday through September 9th to grab a bag, 3 doughnuts for $5

The TASTE Liquid Lounge offers something no other Farmers Market offers: Alcohol. Yes, alcohol! Each Thursday,  market guests can enjoy beautiful summer evenings shopping for delicious goodies AND enjoy a glass of wine, beer, or summer cocktail! Now I call that shopping!

Our TASTE Liquid Lounge is located at the TASTE Cafe  in the Pavilion where shoppers have been able to  enjoy NW wine and beer by the glass  (hand-picked each week by TASTE Restaurant’s Director Danielle Custer and Beverage Director Kris Rezac) as well as our Seasonal Inspired, “Farm to Glass Cocktails” by TASTE Bartender Tiffany, including the Strawberry Basil Margarita, Blueberry Cobbler and this week’s “Rhu” du Friday all while listening to the fun soundtrack by bands playing in the Amphitheater, (provided be SAM’s GetOut program) and above all – the scenic views of the ever-stunning Olympic Sculpture Park.

I can’t think of a better way to spend a Thursday evening: Food, Wine, Beer, Cocktails, Music, and the Olympic Sculpture on a Summer Evening

Come out and see us- now until September 9th!
