February’s Wine Tasting Notes

A few of the wines we will be sample:

Monte Marcal   l   Cava   l   NV   l   Spain   l   $11.99 (normally $15)

Efesté   |   “Feral” Sauvignon Blanc   |    2009  |   Columbia Valley   $15.99 (normally $19)

The name “Feral” refers to the fact that this wine is made with native yeast.  Winemaker Brennon Leighton uses this yeast to show the true character of the Sauvignon Blanc varietal.  The wine is fermented in 100% Neutral French Oak that have seen two previous vintages for 3 months enhancing the native yeast, not overpowering it.  A beautifully crafted,  rich, complex and refreshing wine. The grapes are sourced from the Sagemoor Vineyard and Evergreen Vineyard  in the Columbia Valley.

Grape Varietal:  100% Sauvignon Blanc
Tasting Note: Wonderful citrus and mineral notes.  The nose is filled with lemon, lime, and grass.  The Palette fills with round citrus, apple, slate, and a slight spice, finishing with great tight crisp acid.  A Loire Valley styled Sauvignon Blanc that is refreshing and bright. Great structure shines throughout this wine.                                                                                        Winemaker’s Note: Wine is dedicated to esteemed Loire Valley vigneron Didier Dagueneau.

Nelm’s Road Cabernet Sauvignon   l   2007   l   Washington State   l   $19.99 (normally $23)

Seven Hills Tempranillo   l   2007   l   Columbia Valley   l   $16.99 (normally $20)

Alexandria Nicole   |   “Jet Black” Syrah   |    2007  |   Columbia Valley  | $20.99 (normally $24)

Winemaker Jarod L. Boyle has truly made a dark, inky wine that the name “Jet Black”  is a perfect fit.  Behind the the dark garnet color lies a Washington State styled Syrah.  It’s all here, big soft dark red fruit, a touch of smoke, and terrior.   Syrah has been a staple wine for Alexandria Nicole Cellars since 2004 with each vintage different and distinctive, all sourced from different vineyards  The fruit is big but not over the top, the body is a touch big for a Syrah but balanced nicely into a focused tight finish.  This is a food wine but a new world Syrah glass drinker would be pleased.

Grape Varietal:  100% Syrah
Tasting Note: Wonderful blackberry, dark cherry, blueberry, cedar, and the for mentioned light smoke is the nose. In the mouth the fruit is well balanced with mocha, forest floor, soft white pepper and dust.  Elegant acid is late and round.  Great structure shines throughout this wine.
Winemaker’s Note: Aged 18 months in French and American Oak.

Drop by to see what other wines we’ll be featuring – Our team is ready and prepared for this amazing winter wine sale!
